Urban Forest Recycling salvages Caribbean Basin hardwoods growing on the Florida Keys. We don't remove trees, but we work closely with licensed arborists who do.
We have a capricious supply of a broad array of unique species and provide a widely varied range of users with the sort of stock that’s not likely to be found elsewhere. Probably the most well known species is Cuban Mahogany, but there are many others.
Virtually all of the trees on the island chain are protected either by the Endangered Species Act or one of two Florida laws concerning rare biota and areas of special concern.
A stringent permitting system is administered under the aegis of our county biologists. If a tree is removed, there has to be a good reason. A fee is involved, and a mitigated number of native species must be planted back to replace the tree that was removed.
Unfortunately, the wood from trees permitted for removal is often wasted. Unless we can get ahold of it!
